KRU
Nationwide League
The KRU Nationwide League is Kenya’s lower-tier national rugby union competition run by the Kenya Rugby Union (KRU). It features the largest number of clubs in the country and is organized into regional conferences such as Nairobi, Western, Rift Valley, Coast, Central, and Nyanza. Teams compete within their regions before advancing to national playoffs, where top performers secure promotion to the higher KRU Championship while relegated Championship teams drop down to Nationwide. The league plays a key role in developing rugby talent across universities, community clubs, and emerging rugby areas, acting as a pathway into higher-level competition. Recent seasons have seen clubs like Zetech Oaks, TUM Marines, Kisii RFC, and NYS Spades earn promotion through strong Nationwide campaigns.
